The One Day

May 28, 2011
This was the happiest day of my life... the day I married my best friend.
Brett and I got married on a beautiful Saturday morning in Longview, Texas. We were surrounded by our friends and family under a gorgeous oak tree where we exchanged our vows.
The day was about as perfect as I could have wished... and I was calmer than any other day of our engagement, which is very unlike me. I could definitely sense the hand of the Lord
on Brett and I that day.
The ceremony was everything I could have dreamed for...
from the music played by my dear friends: Abbey Daugherty and Priscilla Fiskeaux,
to the wedding party full of our closest supporters and best friends.
Our wedding was performed by our dear friend and pastor Doug Schmidt who has been nothing short of a father figure and mentor in our lives since moving to Dallas.
The service began with my father and I arriving at the aisle in a horse-drawn carriage where he walked be down the aisle to the song "I Will Exalt" by Amanda Faulkart. It was such a surreal moment.
Included with our vows, we also had a "feet-washing" ceremony signifying the importance of the servanthood,  selflessness, and humility we would commit to in our marriage. During this ceremony, Priscilla sang a song titled "My Sunshine" which she wrote for us.
After announced husband and wife, we processed down the aisle barefoot to "Love" by Chris Tomlin... it was such a relieving moment.
Our reception was just yards away from the ceremony under a large white tent
decorated with shabby chic details and wild flowers.
Following the reception we are farewelled by our friends and family as they sprinkled bird seed over us sending best wishes. Then... it was off to Dallas for the night and then to Cancun, Mexico
for our weeklong honeymoon.

Wedding photos are all thanks to Youngbong Kim at youngbphoto.com (he did such a wonderful job).

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day beautiful and blessed.
